Freshen Up for Spring

Spring Is Upon Us

How the seasons creep up on us. Spring has shown its fresh face and we’ve sprung our timepieces forward. The days edge longer as the sun begins its journey, from our earthly perspective, to a more northerly position, altering the slant of cast shadows. We’ve the urge to clean out clutter and closets, sending tiresome clothing to donation-thrift shops perhaps sparking renewed interest in another’s eyes. Spring is that time for new beginnings.

The season may inspire urges to pick a new wall color or two. Maybe that accent wall could look a bit fresher, brighter for the spring season and the summer that will follow. A punchy new accent pillow or two can bring a touch of spring joy into the room. Or paint an old piece of furniture or a thrift shop ‘find’ a bright color.

Freshen Up Your Rooms

A fresh new look can carry the day through several seasons.

A new wall color

When picking a new and fresh wall color for a seasonal update think moderately bright for most situations. Unless the room is large and sunny, bright colors can often be too strong. Tints of colors that have not been too diluted, like those in the selection of rooms below (from MyHomeIdeas), work nicely for creating a spring and summery look. The rooms use softly bright colors that create a fresh and cheerful ambiance.

The walls of this room are painted a muted hue of celery green creating a fresh and airy atmosphere. Pale yellow is used for the accent pillows and shade. The fabrics are natural in hue. (Match the wall color look with perhaps Sherwin Williams SW6421 Celery, or Benjamin Moore 2145-50 Limesickle.)
